Born in a small home in Floriana, Mario has always had a passion for medicine, art and aviation since his early years. He was the general practitioner of his cousin’s dolls and made planes out of his mother’s washing line pegs. He loved art as well and attended his first art school at the age of 6 after his mum saw a tree he had drawn. At the age of 10, he was the youngest student at the School of Art at Polytechnic, now known as the Junior College. Mario took a break to focus on his academic studies but returned to the art school in Valletta after graduation, where he won several awards. His preferred medium is watercolours and he particularly enjoys creating 3-D paintings.

In addition to his artistic talents, Mario is a medical doctor with 39 years of experience caring for patients, whom he holds dear to his heart. In his personal life, Mario is married with two children and has a deep love for nature and animals. His hobbies include Flight Simulation, where he is an Airbus A320 virtual pilot, and gardening.

Mario’s guiding philosophy is that one is not born with [an art] talent, but rather an inclination to it that can be nurtured and cultivated through perseverance. He believes in treating others as one would like to be treated and prioritising love for God, family, and others in that order and above all else. Mario encourages others to forgive and share love freely, to enjoy life to the full while following the Word of God. Mario says “God loves you personally and tremendously, but permits suffering in your life to make you grow even stronger and more compassionate for others.”
